Description
A pond of giant water lilies seen from an oblique overhead angle. The pads are rendered as radial sunbursts of green; the water beneath them is not depicted as water but as a horizontal mosaic of violet, magenta, and gold, the complementary field pushing the greens toward the acidic register the title names.
The image is built in acrylic paint pen, with paint-pen linework, on paper. It is deliberately loose — worked at speed, closer to a drawn study than a finished panel. The resolution shifts across the sheet: the upper pads are dense and complete, while the foreground blooms fall away into open, unfilled contour.
